So I decided, well maybe I should go since I do live rather close to my Alma mater.  I thought this would be a good chance to see some of my old professors and classmates.  Before attending I took a couple pills to chill me out (their rx ppl) for anxiety, I hate social situations normally like this.  As soon as I got my sweet pin that read “Sarah Ashworth 2006” I walked over to the wine table.   Began chatting up another student who is currently a sophomore and seems to have a good direction.   Then I caught up with a few professors, Ruth, probably one of my best ever helped organize the event and also was my instructor for Intro to Women’s Studies in Spring 2003.   Her class got me interested in the cross disciplinary program and minor.    She become a great mentor to me in subsequent years.   Another professor  I tossed it with at dinner was Kate Norlock.  I never had the pleasure of taking a class with her during my years at SMCM, but I thoroughly enjoyed our discussion.  I explained my identity of feminism coming from a pro-life  catholic background.   Missed talking with Maggie Obrien however.

The lecture was great it was really interesting to hear a women with such experience in our political and social community come to us and bring light to so many issues that we dont often consider.  Gender gaps, the fight for equality on different fronts, cross cultural issues etc.  She is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about what she does and with more breaking down barriers as she has maybe more change can come.
