Running in the dark.

This is not fun. This was probably the scariest run yet. I know what your thinking, why dont you just get reflectors or a flashlight? Well you know what…i didnt have one this morning, and I was ready to go at 530 for my morning run and the sun was not. The sky was gorgeous though, lit up with every star as far as the eye can see. The morning sun barely touched the trees in a faded blue light. I took Bailey with me for protection although I’m not sure how much good he is on my runs half the time. Somewhat counterproductive when he wants to sniff everything and then on the final mile lay in the mud puddles. There were not many cars out this morning so I didnt have to worry about getting run over, just the thought of it scared me. Then there are all the noises in the woods you dont pay attention to or else dont hear during the day. Along with all of this you really have to focus on what is going on all around you, where your feet are, (where Bailey is since he shifts side to side), looking cautiously too often behind you for headlights. This was my first time running an 1h and half before sunrise and I have mixed feelings about the whole experience. I think next time ill need a flashlight and a xanax. But I will try it again since it is nice to get going earlier in the morning. Plus the sun is rising earlier with every day so that is even better!
