Sarah and Paige’s “crisp” weekend

Sarah and Paige’s “crisp” weekend

“Crisp”- should be translated as “sweet” or “cool” and is a much better substitute…Sarah and Paige have helped make “crisp” popular.

Well…The weekend started Saturday afternoon when I was supposed to meet Paige at North Point State Park in Glenn Burnie, Maryland. This originally would be around 5-6pm. After getting lost myself for a good hour I settled at cafe and waited for them to call. They call. Its 7:30. I drive to the State Park. They are lost too. I leave the State Park to find them. Rathern than going to the park, we decide to eat. We order crabs to go and get back on 695. Paige decides that we take a shortcut through the streets of South Baltimore to find 95. It takes another hour until we find the Harbor tunnel and then eventually the Parkway to get back to Washington DC. Finally i feel a little better. But still Im driving behind them at 90 mph all the while they have two kayaks tied to the back and I cant help thinking that Im going to die if one of the kayaks fly off. Its now 10:00 when we get home and eat crabs. They were awesome. Unfortunately I had a race the next morning, and got a shell stuck in my throat and couldnt stop gagging.

Woke up the following morning at 5:00 am got ready for the race. Woke Paige at 615, out the door by 645 to be at the race by 730. It figures that there were all kinds of things that made us late…garage blocked..no change for toll roads…no signs for community center…anyway I was only a couple minutes late…and caught up to the pack. The course wasnt bad and I finished around 58:00 minutes. (Considering im a little out of shape not bad). Paige missed me only because she thought I was in the 5k not the 10, and kept wondering why I hadnt crossed the finish line yet when everyone else had haha. It was great having her there with me. As soon as I finished I heard her voice and I see my car across the way I jump in.

Later that day after napping and checking out the Herndon festival, we drove out to the Great Falls Park and then to the Maryland side of the river to kayak.

It was alot more difficult then it looks and sounds. It took a total of 5 hours for this little excursion. And I had never been kayaking before. I was a little too scared to get into one of the boats so I literally ran alongside them on a path as Michael and Paige kayaked. I had a good time. The hard part about kayaking is getting too and from, back and forth up and down I guess. But it looks like its worth it.
