Okay. Now I had no idea what I was going to be when I woke up this morning. I went to my chiropractic appointment and everyone was dressed in costume Dr. Seuss style. That inspired me to get serious with my costume idea. I had to do something different this year. Well I certainly did. I went to the Halloween store, and everything on the shelves for women was sexy kitten this, sexy stripper that. So I went over to the wig section. I was instantly inspired by a mullet wig hanging on the shelf. I picked it up. Thinking to myself for a second, I wondered if I could pull of a southern redneck. Well, Sarah, you were raised in Georgia, and you are from Southern Maryland…so why not? I continued with this idea, and took it one step further by adopting the character of Joe Dirt. I ran home with my press on tattoos, wig, sunglasses…and rushed to get to work. I applied my eyebrow makeup to make bushy eyebrows and a mustache. Threw on a white “wife-beater” tank, jeans, and some “timbs” or work boots.
Once I got to work I had the idea to adopt a southern draw, or accent. I did this for the majority of the day. Which I am sure drove some people I was around nuts. I did go into work for a little while and managed to take some pictures of everybody, before I had to leave for the peer to peer class. Later that day I ran over to the Bayview Clubhouse for their Spooktacular Event. Since I am on the board, I helped out with the event. I was still in costume and still doing the accent. I was in charge of games. After that slowed down I broke out some dance moves on the dance floor and it was such a great end to the evening. So here are some pictures from the NAMI San Diego staff:
