Always enjoy my jam packed weekend trips to visit family back home in Maryland. In fact, I probably couldn’t have fit any other plans into the weekend if I tried. Maryland will always be our home, regardless of where we end up. Initially, I had planned to visit MD this particular weekend to be part of the Celebration of life for Aunt Dee. It also fell on the same weekend as my mom’s and brother-in-law’s Austin Birthday. Even had a chance to visit MIL Linda briefly. So in the course of the weekend, I visited the Eastern Shore, Delaware, Baltimore (2x), Annapolis, and Bowie.

What happened on Sunday evening, was my scheduled flight out of BWI, at 7:50pm. I had planned ahead of time to get a ride with the bestie, around 4pm, have a quick bite and have her take me to the airport for my flight. Well, somehow we lost track of time. We ended up sometime around 6pm finally settling on an oyster bar in downtown, Annapolis. Decided quickly to tackle a seafood tower, crab soup and a dozen oysters. We destroyed all of that seafood rather quickly and probably left Annapolis for BWI, around 6:45pm. By the time Paige dropped me off, I had just got a notification that my plane was beginning to board (7:20). I tried my hardest to get my bag checked and off to security, by this time I was pushing my luck. By some miracle I got through TSA in less than ten minutes, and high-tailed it to my terminal B, GATE 14, which is the last gate at that terminal. Once I arrived it was dark out and I could not tell if the plane was still there. Running at this point, I frantically found an attendant who said I was lucky, I was the last passenger to board, and very fortunate my flight had not taken off. I got plenty of looks from annoyed Baltimorean’s as I probably ensured we were a few minutes off schedule. Miraculously, I made it on time to arrive in Jax where Hubby and fam were waiting for me. One of my bags even made it with its “I’m LATE” check in tag. Either way, I wouldn’t have traded any of it for that close call. My visit was complete to top it off with some time with Paige. Sometimes its good to forget the schedule, take a risk and get lost in time and enjoy the moment with your best friend.
