For the President’s Day weekend we had plenty of sporting events to keep us occupied. On Friday evening, we supported the local high school varsity Lacrosse team, and our assistant Coach for our 12U team (Coach Gaby—who plays Defense for the HS team, pictured below). The girls were so impressed with the game, well mostly. Until they lost interest and bickered for the last half of the game. The HS team played so well, winning by a convincing 19-6 score.

Saturday Morning, Ella had a basketball game, and Hazel cheered her sister on with her cheer squad. Ella did great and has improved so much. Every time she brings the ball into play from the sideline, she kept saying to her teammate, “Let’s Go!” They played great and beat their rival team a narrow margin of just two points to take the win. As Hazel cheered, you could make out her yell distinctly! We came home from the early game of Bball to boring household chores, the girls “helped” me fold maybe 6-7 loads of laundry. Jason did a deep cleaning of the kitchen. Nice family day, with not much on the schedule for a change.

Sunday afternoon, Ella had a bonus lacrosse game, in St. Augustine, actually east Jacksonville in St. John’s County. Four girls from our Fleming Island qualified to move up and play extra games on Sundays, joining another league, “Old City Lacrosse” club. It is amazing to me to see the amount of youth girls lacrosse fields, girls and supportive parents of players on the fields. The sport has truly overtaken the south in the 10-15 years Ive been out. The girls played extremely well for it being their first game.

I am loving all this activity for the girls. While we hold practices for the girls, I am doing my best to be active too. I run the warmups with them, I lead calisthenics with them, I try to get involved in the plays and drills. All of this activity has been great for both Ella and I. Just the drive alone spending time with Ella yesterday was so much fun, we jammed out to some tunes and overall had a great time. She is a great little navigator too.

Coach Gaby with the Girls, you would’ve they saw a celebrity!
