I wanted to inform my friends and fans that we faired okay living in Northeast Florida. Despite some brief power outages, and a few fallen branches, we went unscathed. Unlike the rest of central and south Florida who are trying to pick up the pieces that was left in the wake of Hurricane Ian. I have seen too many posts from Floridians locally on social media, making light of the Hurricane, even going so far as ridiculing those that stayed. I try not to get political here, but it is almost sickening to me seeing humor about the situation. I wish people in general had a touch more humanity and compassion. There are people whose entire communities have been destroyed, or worse, stuck and trying to survive.
As someone who volunteers a lot of time to organizations, I have an even harder time resisting some way I can help those in need. Even so. Millions are without power. Thousands more likely without food or dry clothes. Homes destroyed. Yet this is the time to joke. I don’t take it lightly and trying my best to swallow my words or engage anyone in an argument. Here I know I have a place to allow those feelings to surface. Here I can release these emotions to whoever might read.
Now I sit, having some unexpected family time. We have played board games, prepared a lot of amazing food, cleaned around the house and even worked a bit remotely. We are extremely lucky that the storm shifted south east of us. Highs of maybe 50-60mph wind gusts was the worst we experienced. Very little rain as well. We are blessed to be in our position here. God has certainly been looking out for me lately, I know that for a fact. In the meantime, to everyone relocated or still in Ft. Myers, Tampa, and surrounding areas, We are thinking of you and praying that you are okay.
