We had an awesome volunteer meeting for GAL last Thursday. Staff, Attorneys, the entire team of CAMS (Child Advocate Managers, that’s my job—a glorified social worker) and all of the volunteers we work with on our cases were in attendance. We met at the local pizza joint, the Mellow Mushroom. There were 30+ people there. It was an amazing turnout to say the least. All of us work in some degree for Guardian Ad Litem, working and advocating for children in the child welfare system. I had a cheat day and ate an amazing burger and tater tots. (Yes a burger at a pizza joint—It was FABULOUS!!) After a great meet up, some of the CAMS and I headed to my favorite….Karaoke. We sang, well I sang. They entertain my love of singing and I love them for it. Not that I am very talented, but I do love love love to sing. With every ounce of me. Having such supportive co-workers and such wonderful people to see everyday brings me so much joy. I am so happy where I work and it is so very rewarding.
