Sarah’s Self care Saturday

Sarah’s Self care Saturday

I had an amazing day taking care of my needs on Saturday. It was much needed and happy that hubby took the kids to a birthday party. Started off the day early with a trip to Starbucks with the girls. We came home and I waved goodbye to the home and off to commence Sarah’s Self Care Saturday. Immediately I felt relief. I love my kids and my hubby but this momma needed a break. I drove to Riverside, for RAM-Riverside Arts Market. Met my amazing former NAMI besties for some leisure time. I saw them standing by a stand admiring some local artistry. I surprised them, especially Beata, and we embraced. Took time touring the different displays. After we stopped for an “all you can eat” sushi spot in San Marco. It was such a cool experience. The highlight of that trip early on was seeing their beautiful faces, and the little bookstore and writing shops.

Next up was going to my GAL teens’ prom prep. I made the mistake of loading her hair with hairspray. OOPS. She said she wanted a slick up do. So I did my best to get that hair stiff and perfectly in place. It ended up being not was she envision so we proceeded to wash her hair in the sink. She was upset but we explained that we could fix it quickly. She in the end looked incredibly beautiful—a vision—and breathtaking. It is so special to see her progress and flourish where she is.

Ended my day with a hair appointment and spiffy red hair. I am so happy with the change. When I saw myself I did a double take, because I had never done anything exciting like this with my hair color. Naturally I am a dark blonde. The recent blonde streaks began to be cumbersome and annoying.

I had a wonderful day. Not thinking about responsibilities, but about my wishes and operating on my own schedule. I am thankful that I was able to do this. It helped ease some recent hectic anxiety levels. Further, I focused on my and prioritized myself.
