I mentioned in a previous post, equating my current state of affairs as being on a non-stop roller coaster that I couldn’t get off. I will say that today, I liken my moods more to a theme park. I read a quote that struck me: “There will be good days, bad days, light days and dark. Life is like being at a theme park. So buckle up tight and enjoy the thrill. There will be ups and downs as life is not still. Explore, experience, rest and have fun. Your life’s journey has already begun.” —Jo Watts.
Before I felt like I was on a roller coaster that wouldn’t stop. Now I feel that ride is slowing slightly, for me to carefully step off. I know these are not the best days, but I know the lighter days are in front of me. I am working to embrace life as it is at the moment. My journey has already arrived. I am not going to fight against it. I will buckle up and do my best. I do love theme parks, not this one particularly in my head…but I do enjoy them.
One thing I love about theme parks, is that you can choose what you do. What ride to ride, food to eat, which direction or part of the park to explore. It is thrilling, it is exciting. Another thing about them, they are a one or two day adventure. Not an everyday, several week affair. This theme park reminds me of Bush Gardens or Six Flags on steroids. I see the value though in this quote. I see that there is a way off this ride. I know I can get through this theme park. I will choose my path, through a calmer part of the park. A serene path with a view and good food. No loopy roller-coaster rides for me. I see the light on that path but and I feel its warmth around me. I am almost there.
This morning, Ella cooked us pancakes. Nearly unassisted. I helped her slightly with the stove top and the measurements. She did great. They rivaled Jason’s pancakes. We are thoroughly ejoying our girls weekend. I took the girls to a Kids Fest yesterday. Turned out to be a good spot for me, though very exhausting and stimulating. I settled in…and managed . The girls played. They rode a train, bounced in bouncy houses, rock climbed, watched magic shows, and ended the afternoon with the bungee jumping. We had an amazing day together. Spending time with them is the best medicine.
