The girls and I had a few days solo, while Jason flew back to Maryland to see family. Last weekend we crammed as much as possible into the weekend. Reminiscent of old times when it was just the three of us for long stints. The girls had a Homecoming Pep Rally, Homecoming game, we volunteered at the NAMI Walk, went to church, and the best part—cuddling in bed all together after the long weekend, Chloe included.
It started with the Homecoming Rally for Ella’s football team and Hazel’s Cheer squad. Ella was hyped up about having her name announced with her nickname, aka “Beast Mode”. She ran full speed as they announced and she elatedly did a dance as she joined the rest of her team. All the cheerleaders together did a couple cheers and a routine. Afterwards I escorted Hazel in her cheer uniform—complete with sash and flower—through the helmet and with her teammates and other parents. Exhausted from the festivities we returned home, to the big bed, and fall asleep early in preparation for an early morning the next day.
Arose early on get to the NAMI Walk in downtown Jax. We arrived around 7am after making a necessary breakfast pitstop at Chick Fila. NAMI Jacksonville’s NAMI Walk was in full swing and nearly fully set up by the time we arrived. I saw so many old friends, old co workers. The event was amazing, the girls had a ball quite literally. They walked away with swag, 3 balloon figures each and plenty of smiles. I worked the information table, sharing with others about NAMI and the programs.
We realized on the way home we had enough time to attend Ella’s homecoming football game. Got home, Ella geared up and made our way to the fields. The game was exciting, Ella made some good blocks, the Guardians blew them away with a thirty something to zero score. We came home, the girls begged for their neighborhood friends to stop by. So I acquiesced reluctantly. Again we curled up after a long day and watched a movie, falling fast asleep.
Sunday was a little slower. Took the girls to Encounter (Catholic Sunday School) prior to church. Then came home and spent the day catching up on school assignments. All in all it was an extremely chaotic weekend, but I loved spending every minute of it with my girls.
