Six the Musical-A trip with the doodle

Six the Musical-A trip with the doodle

Took Ella last friday night to see Six the Musical. It was an amazing experience. I finally have someone to watch shows with. I was beyond ecstatic witnessing this show that I have wanted to see for some time. But even more so, I loved seeing Ella fall in love with everything, the atmosphere, the music. We arrived in downtown Jax with an hour to spare. First stop was grabbing some Chik Fil A for dinner on the way. Once parked, we entered the Jacksonville Symphony Hall to the will call and grabbed our tickets. Ella immediately went straight for the merch counter. She picked out a shirt, program and tote bag. I had to get a shirt that read, “Queen of the Castle.” We grabbed some water and popcorn, and I got the more important double glass of red wine. The show started, and Ella’s eyes lit up. She stayed on the edge of the seat the whole time. I loved every minute of the show about Henry’s six wives, it was all about female empowerment and rewriting history. Watching Ella, I welled up. It was Ella’s first musical live, and my 24th live musical. I hope to get this child to NYC one day just to see a show or two. Her love of music and musicals shines through just as it did with me at her age. I remember my parents coming home from NYC after seeing Phantom and Les Mis in the 90s, bringing me home the CDs to listen. I studied the lyrics and fell in love with them at an early age. I hope Ella continues to be my date to the musicals in the future. I loved most of all seeing the joy in her eyes as she sang along.
