My best friend, Paige, sent me an uplifting email today. I also discovered national long distance best friend day was today. Paige and I have been best friends since college, when we met playing D1 Lacrosse for Syracuse University in 2002. I left Syracuse in 2003, Paige and I stayed in touch over the years, by phone mostly everyday and everyday since.
Paige has taught me many lessons, whether it was knowing my limits of alcohol at frat parties or how to save money. The better question would be how well did I listen to those lessons. We are completely different people. In every way possible, but we love each other and lift each other up. So many stories, so many memories. The best memories involve eating steamed blue crabs in maryland, kayaking, bumping around the mid atlantic and southern regions of the country, with the occasional northern experience of Boston, NYC or Philly ( and western LA excursion). She has been there with me through the many turmoils and changes in my life. She has been steady, stable, reliable, supportive and always loved me the way I was. For that most of all, for the fact that I can go through cycles and in the process lost friends or relationships, I am eternally grateful and honored to call her my best friend. Happy National Long Distance BFF Day today and everyday Paige.
