Hazel ”Basil” Joan

AKA Hazel Basil Lemon Squeazil, Hae-Hae, Haze, Hazelnut or Hazely Eyes

Hazel Joan was the easiest baby. She woke up to feed on a great schedule, she operated as clear cut as a clock. Napped, slept long hours. Loved trying new foods. I stayed home with her for the duration of her younger years and loved every minute of watching her grow. When she turned 3 1/2 or 4 years old was when all bets were off. Unlike her sister, Hazel is a self proclaimed boss-baby. She has a strong personality, and disagrees with Mommy most of the time.

If you can believe it, Hazel is the sweetest angel child in Kindergarten currently in this school year (2021-2022). She has received multiple awards for pristine behavior and Gator-Pride. You could ask her cheer coach, and she would say that Hazel is perfection at practice. When she wakes up in the morning she awakes in a bad mood, that mom has to be creative to fix QUICKLY. She will say, almost daily, Mom do we have school today ? When I respond yes, she flails her body about and makes the loudest noises in protest. I am glad that someone, especially her teachers, see the good natured Hazel that I rarely see.

Other times, when she curls up into a ball in my lap early hours of the morning, I admire this sweet girl that we made. When she smiles at me and I melt and give her anything she asks. If she happens to make the big eye look, with the big lip then I definitely can’t resist. Hazel marches to to the beat of her own and looks up to Ella especially.
