TNT Course Launch Party

Wednesday, March 3rd. Today I attended a Course Launch Party in Downtown, San Diego. I had an interest in participating with the Team in Training program for this marathon. TNT is not only a great program that helps average runners like me get in shape, but it does so while raising money to help cure blood-related cancers. I went to this event with every expectation that I would join the cause. All the staff, volunteers, and coaches were wonderful. I learned more about the course for the Rock and Roll Marathon San Diego that will be June 6th 2010. The party was held at House of Blues, which was surprisingly a great venue. The lights were dim, there were candles illuminating the room. I sat on a comfy couch and as I waited for the program to begin, a very nice young woman sat next to me. We talked most of the night about different things and I gave her my contact info if she ever needed a partner to run with. I miss little things like that back home. Companionship and friendship. The launch party also had great food, spinach artichoke dip was my favorite. The Party was packed full of people who were all interested or already part of a team for Team in Training. I registered that night after hearing such great things about the organization. The task itself is daunting. I have to raise 1,750 to be a part of the program. I am looking forward to the challenge, I have never been so determined to reach a goal than I feel now about this. I think being involved in this is a great way to get to know my way around San Diego, and meet people as well.
