Happy Birthday Bailey!

Happy Birthday Bailey!

It is Bailey’s Birthday Week, yes. Every one in the Ashworth family gets one (a birthday week I mean). So does Bail-Bail. I thought I would take a few moments to re-live some of my favorite Bailey moments.

He has always been a well behaved and well natured dog. But dog walking was not one of his talents. In fact, while I was away at college he was a outside yard dog for many years. (See my Bailey vs Shadow Page for further explanation). Well you would think as a young pup and after I returned he might’ve broken his habits and become a better walker. No sir…This picture below…Shows him seven years later, attempting to walk him as he resists like a prima donna simply not liking the direction we are going. The other drama queen move he likes to pull these days, is to lie down on all fours, onto his stomach and refuse to move…you can imagine that this goes over well with Jason.

Not too long after I found out that I would be traveling to the west coast with Jason to San Diego and that I would be taking Bailey with me. Bailey could hardly contain his self. Neither could my dad. Jason went out earlier. My dad, Bailey and I drove my car out at the beginning of this year in my little Toyota Yaris cross country which was a trip to remember for sure. There is a another post somewhere in here about it, I will cross reference it once I find it. Here is a pic of Bailey try to drive and climb into the front seat.

dad let me drive!

So Bailey will be nine years old this week, always at the end of october.. I think for his birthday we are taking him to get a shiny new tag, to get microchipped and a new collar. Maybe a treat or two. Oh and a visit to the vet. He still has so much energy for a nine year old golden retriever. He still jumps for treats, runs in circles to chase his tail, drags me on the leash if he sees a kitty, whimpers if he sees another doggy, and hey he can still run 8 miles without stopping can your dog? All I am saying is that my dog might not be the ideal dog or the best behaved dog…but I wouldn’t trade him for any other dog in the world…

Finally here is one I took of him in his running gear read to go for a run:

Bailey ready for his run!

ok..so I don’t actually take him out like this but it would be funny.
