Veterans Day Parade

Veterans Day Parade

Marine Corps Band

It was a beautiful day in Downtown San Diego for the Veteran’s Day Parade. We met Gigi and walked to the start of the parade, which began around 11am. The Marine Corps Band began the parade, followed by many high school bands throughout. We stood on the street corner waving our flags patriotically, which of course, were not even manufactured in the U.S. (see below).

There were so many great things to see in the parade. Throughout, veterans and military marched, wheeled, drove, or biked their way down to Midway. These were some veterans that were on power scooters or in wheelchairs, that proudly came down the street.

Each branch was well represented, and of course there were many uniforms. This shows some Navy Sailors who serve on a submarine named, USS Asheville.

There were also many Ceremonial guards, from each service, some active duty, some veterans. This was of an Veteran Army Ceremonial Guard:

I really enjoyed seeing all of the veterans on their motorcycles or in their classic cars. I took a few shots of my favorites:

I failed to mention that the parade was honoring Cold War Veterans. We did get these very nice programs at the beginning of the parade and quizzed each other on our knowledge of the Cold War. We took some pictures while we were waiting for the parade to begin:

My absolute favorite part of being there to support our troops, was seeing everyone else gathered there as well. There were so many people crowding the sidewalks to applaud the veterans. In a time of economic, foreign, and social uncertainty it is amazing to see so many people gather together to support our military.
