Candy Cane day, a lesson in school preparation

Candy Cane day, a lesson in school preparation

The day began like any other Wednesday. Normal kiddo routine getting ready for school. On this day, we were nearly out the door, when Ella realized that it was “Dress like a Candy Cane” day at school. I thought about it briefly and said to myself, who in their right minds would create such a thing for a school day activity? While I had that thought I saw Ella’s dejected expression as she might’ve already expected me to say no and rushed her out the door. But no. You might have guessed what happened next. Hurriedly I ushered the girls back to their rooms in Hopes of finding something resembling Candy Cane colors. I anxiously tore through Hazel’s dresser drawers, while Ella somehow fond white shorts and a red t shirt. Just then I landed on Christmas red and white striped jammies that were Ella’s hand me downs to Hazel, yet to be worn. I thought I had hit the mommy jackpot. I found some Candy cane ornaments and proceeded to concoct some sort of Candy cane hair style. So, I took this picture quickly and we zoomed out to the car to get to school. It was the first time that day that they were late to school all year, because of the Candy cane ordeal. I felt accomplished and also maybe, maybe scored some points with Ella. I came to learn after school, that Ella and Hazel might have been 2 of a handful of students who actually dressed up for Candy Cane day, LOL. Oh well….

Walk of shame, to the attendance front office
