Mimi strikes again

Mom proved her inability to be taken down once again. After caring for her a few days post-op. She went in for a routine Ostomy appointment at the hospital. On the way there she experienced stroke-like symptoms. By the time she arrived, she was unable to walk, her left side went numb and she was mute. Thanks to my brother’s quick response she was usher quickly to the ER. After admittance and tests it showed she was experiencing a stroke on the right side of her brain and also a pulmonary embolism in her lungs, at the same time. It is very rare to experience both. She has come through like a champ, after one day in the ICU she has downgraded to the neuro unit to undergo more neuro and cardio tests. I still cannot believe it, if she had not been at the hospital for outpatient treatment, she easily could have lost more functionality from the stroke, or been worse off. As of now, she has regained her speech. Her grip on the left side is still weak and unsure how that will progress. Now she is back in the hospital, feeling better, already attempting to issue her discharge. I am here for a couple more days to offer support where I can and ensure mom is comfortable when she returns. I am thankful that she is being well taken care of and in the best hands possible.
