Its nearly Pisces season, SG’s 40th bday month celebration.

I have had a growing fascination with zodiacs and horroscopes of late. It is February 16th, several days from offical Pisces season. I was born Februray 28th, on a leap year, at 11pm at night. A closely-identifying Pisces personality I look forward to the reminder to celebrate my sign. Pisces is a water sign. It falls normally between Feb 20-March 19th. One of the traits for a Pisces, is creativity and passion. I am not creative in a traditional sense, but might exhibit it through words. Passion and emotions run through my veins, as ferverntly as my chemical mood swings :)

Moreover, Its my birthday month! Since I was young we have had a constant tumultous debate about the birthday celebration, what consitutes a birthday month, and regulations person to person in the family. My dad would hum and huff about getting a birthday “minute”. From my knowledge, what constitutes a birthday month is when the celebration is marked to begin and bookends with the culmination of the final birthday celebration. To kick off my birthday month, a good friend and I had a joint birthday Karaoke night celebrating each other for our february birthdays. The birthday month this year began with this karaoke celebration in early Feb. It ends in early March with a girls night out with some of my favorite people. If you want to be technical, my birthday month extends until late march when the Ashworth’s descend on Florida and we officially end the birthday fun.

This year, I turn 40. Reflecting on the leap year this year, the reminder that I could’ve been technically younger by calendar birthday had I been born an hour later, I revel in all my over-the-hill glory. I am proud to be where I am in my life, in grad school, working, having a wonderful family. I am extremely humbled and grateful for what I have now in the present.

February seems to be a popular month, as evidenced by my daughter Hazel whose birthday falls on Feb 9th, and countless friends that share the birthday month. I wanted to share a picture of my girls on Hazel’s birthday present, her new spiffy electric scooter. These girls are growing so fast and it seems unfair that life passes so quickly. Also a picture from my friends at the local karaoke bar, that are such kind peeps. They decorated a table for my friend and I and made us feel special.

As I close this chapter of my 30s, I am reminded of the fleeting moments that I hold on to ever so tight. I believe my 40s will be freaking fabulous. Happy birthday and pisces season to all of my fellow pisces. I feel the overwhelming support from family and friends that I am so thankful to have as part of my life. And as to being 40 years old. BRING IT ON BABY!!!
