Life in Cali

San Diego

(UPDATED: OCTOBER:21, 2010) It is hard to believe that a year has gone by already since I moved here last fall. Well it will be one year as of November 15, 2010. Here is what I know (or have learned) about San Diego: 1) I still rely on my GPS to depart and arrive to my destinations. 2) Little Italy has some of the most amazing Italian food I have ever had, but I have concluded that I would still rather got to Italy someday. 3) Balboa Park is by far the most beautiful park in the world 4) If I had to rate beach locations its a toss up between La Jolla Cove and San Clemente. 5) Ocean Beach is one of the strangest places I have ever seen but I love to run there on the weekends and I absolutely love running along Sunset Cliffs. 6)Mission Valley is a great place to live. It is centrally located, plenty of shoping, walking distance to the Chargers stadium, and walking distance to Costco! What more could you ask for! I am not going to take down the pictures below, nor will I take down what I have already posted…simply update with new pictures and where I have been in Southern California over the past few months…

(EARLY 2010) I have been to Oceanside, CA which is about 30 minutes north of San Diego. Oceanside has a beautiful beach and Jason’s Uncle Frank lives there. I have visited Balboa Park for a couple nice runs by the Zoo and the museums. I have also driven to Santa Monica, where my Uncle Lee and my favorite cousins live. Here is a picture of my cousins, Emma, Anika and Sofia:

(FEBRUARY 2010) I have been to Malibu with Paige when she came to visit in February. We went from Santa Monica–Malibu–West Hollywood–back to Santa Monica. We drove through Malibu State Park, went shopping at the Grove and went to Agape Worship Center on Sunday. Back in Santa Monica we ate crepes on the Promenade.

(MARCH 2010) March 21, 2010 or thereabouts, I ran the LA Marathon with my Aunt Cynthia in Los Angeles. I had been training with her and the LA Roadrunners every weekend for a few months. My Uncle and cousins as well as Jason were there to meet us at the finish line to support us/ congratulate us. My time was horrible don’t ask. I am running it again next year (2011) and I am telling you it will be much much better…Here is a photo(I think I have one, after I finished)…

My very fast Aunt Cynthia, and myself, still recovering from exhaustion.

These pictures here are from June 2010, when Jason and I visited La Jolla for the first time. My dad had been telling us about La Jolla for months and how beautiful it was. Well he was right. The view was breath-taking. And all the seals were out enjoying themselves in on the rocks. The first picture of the seals shows about fifteen seals that were gathered on one large rock that were barking at each other the entire time and making strange noises. It was so strange I had never seen that many seals in the wild like that. The second picture is the coastline of La Jolla which is so amazing to see in person.

In August 2010, Jason’s younger sister, Katie, visited us here. We took her to LA, Hollywood, La Jolla, San Clemente, Downtown, all over. Sightseeing in LA and Hollywood was a highlight for me. Especially seeing the chinese theater in Hollywood and walking Hollywood Boulevard. We took pictures of the stars, the famous celebrity hand prints. My favorites were of Clint Eastwood, Shirley Temple, John Wayne, Johnny Depp, Lou Costello, Meryll Streep among others. I was so excited to see Mrs. Meryll Streep that I had to put my hand in her concrete mold and have my picture taken…(see picture below) We also went up to Mulholland Drive and saw the skyline view of LA which was absolutely beautiful. You can also see the Hollywood sign perfectly from there. (see below)

I LOVE YOU!!!

We ended our trip that day with a quick tour of Beverly Hills, which wouldn’t be complete without a trip through Rodeo Drive. I stopped to take a picture of the famous Beverly Hills Hotel on Rodeo Drive, ( I can’t remember the name of it, someone help me out…) Anyway..here it is…The one from the movie Pretty Woman.(see below)

Continued from Katie’s visit….I took Katie to San Clemente one day, which is about one hour north of San Diego…We had a great time. The weather was perfect. We played frisbee by the surf, had some ice cream, walked the pier, and sat in the sand watching the waves crash along the coast. San Clemente is absolutely beautiful. Like I said its a toss up between La Jolla and here.
